Arthur and Sylvia Benbow were founder members for the British Heart Foundation in Wales from 1983 to 1993 thanks to support from Royal Liver Assurance where Arthur was employed for 32 years. Plus support from the local press the total income was welcome.
In spite of playing tennis and having 3 children Sylvia had a problem with her heart from an early age that caught up with her in her 50’s and thanks to the hospital support in Cardiff the problem was kept in control. Hence the reason for the 10 years from 1983 that we established a unit in Cardiff to promote the British Heart Foundation and raise income. So the list below will confirm the events and income that was raised thanks to the support of the local press and the company I spent 32 years with ie the Royal Liver Assurance in Liverpool who made numerous donations from Liverpool and staff around the UK. As it will be known I retired in July 1993 and sadly 4 months later Sylvia passed away hence the four charity projects from 1994 to date.
