Arthur Benbow began his life in Bristol, England on the 5th of June, 1932. At the age of 16, Arthur fell in love with cycling.

In 1961, with family responsibilities staring him in the face, Arthur had to give up his fourteen year relationship with his bicycle. He took a temporary job in the financial services industry as an Insurance Agent two after getting married. Thirteen years later, in 1974, promotion took Arthur and his family to Wales.

In July of 1993, after 32 years (25 in management) Arthur's temporary job' came to an end when he retired at the tender age of 61. Regrettably, four months later, Arthur's wife Sylvia died from an inoperable heart condition.

Arthur and Sylvia had shared an active involvement in charity work with the British Heart Foundation and membership in the ARP050. It was through his commitment to these organisations that Arthur found the strength to endure the turmoil of the months that followed his wife's death. Through this, he also found the support and encouragement that helped him to plan his future without a partner.

The future has now taken shape with cycling expeditions to Israel, Canada, America, New Zealand, Australia and Spain.
